There’s no denying that the sports industry has been turned on its head over the last few months. But we think there’s some killer opportunities for sports and wellbeing brands.

93% human behaviour is predictable and based on habits we form, according to a study by Northeastern University. There has been a huge increase in people dedicating time and energy to their fitness during lockdown and they don’t plan to stop.

According to Kantar’s latest Covid-19 consumer behaviour report, 43% consumers wish to continue to exercise more post-lockdown and 39% want to eat more healthily.

We think brands should continue to deliver immersive, engaging online experiences and video content as part of their core strategy to tap into the convenience this newfound online world has delivered.

CONNECT THROUGH BRAND BELIEFS

IBM’s latest report has shown that a large proportion of consumers seek products and services that align with their values (40% are purpose-driven and 13% are brand-driven, i.e. they want to buy into brands they trust). It’s never been more important to align your content to your brand values and beliefs to engage and convert your audience.

WHAT MATTERS TO A PURPOSE-DRIVEN CONSUMER?

We’ll keep this short and sweet. Brand trust – massively important. Convenience – massively important. Sustainability – massively important. Oh, and they’re pretty up for changing their shopper habits to reduce their environmental impact. This audience are willing to pay a premium for products that align to their values and lifestyle.

We couldn’t talk sport without mentioning eSports. Did you know, the eSports industry is set to create 3x more revenue than the music industry this year?

Brands have been forced to appreciate how powerful the eSports community can be and we’ve loved watching the likes of Le Mans 24 hours go virtual (which clocked up 14 million views worldwide).
